Freedom Gathering.

The Freedom Gathering Church operates out of a storefront on 14th Street in Bradenton, Florida, sandwiched between the Salvation Army and a strip of low-rent motels. The area is one of the most economically depressed sections of Bradenton, a far cry from the tourist traps and white sand beaches a few miles to the west. Every Thursday night they prepare and serve a dinner for the community, primarily the poor and homeless.

On three consecutive Thursdays, in May 2019, I set up in the back of the church and photographed those who volunteered to sit for a portrait.
