Homelessness in Focus.
‘Homelessness in Focus’ is a body of portrait work captured over the last two and a half years, primarily in Sarasota and Bradenton, that strives to present the local homeless community in a different and hopefully more sympathetic light. The foundational philosophy that underpins this work is that every human life has equal value regardless of economic circumstances, homelessness, addiction, or mental illness.
It is my hope that these images might cause the viewer to reflect on the fact that those whose lives are beset by the demons of mental illness, addiction, poverty and hopelessness should never be seen as something less than human. They are our brothers and sisters and as deserving of our compassion and assistance as any other neighbor in need.
